Careers plan

A career is traditionally seen as a course of successive situations
that make up a person's worklife. Career counseling advisors assess
people's interests, personality, values and skills, and also help them
explore career options and research graduate and professional schools.
Career counseling provides one-on-one or group professional assistance
in exploration and decision making tasks related to choosing a
major/occupation, transitioning into the world of work or further
professional training. The field is vast and includes career placement,
career planning, learning strategies and student development. Career
planning consists of activities and actions that you take to achieve
your individual career goals. Career planning is the ongoing process
where you:
    Explore your interests and abilities;
Strategically plan your career goals; and
Create your future work success by designing learning and action plans to help you achieve your goals.
Career development involves being aware of one's personal goals and
values as well as work goals. It involves continuously learning and
applying new knowledge, taking advantage of opportunities, and taking
risks in order to help the agency be productive and effective while
achieving one's career and personal goals.
